Gmail away status

Has anyone ever wondered why you can't delete an away status when you're logged on to the Gmail chats? I mean, if you have about 50 different away messages, is it possible to get rid of a few? If you know what I'm talking about, please reply. Thanks!!

That is an odd one. I've been going back and fooling around with it and reading the Help Center pages, off and on all day since I read this.

And so far, no, I don't see a way that it can be done.
If someone knows, I'm curious now, too. Especially now, that I've created a couple of extra ones, just to see if I can get rid of them.

google talk. that's how i do it. i would assume everyone has talk installed on their main computer.

I had wondered if that would work. I don't have the program installed.
I've used it with Trillian, and wasn't able to use that to remove the modifications.

i use Google Talk in Gmail, not Google Talk

If you have Google Talk installed (not Gmail Chat) you can "clear custom messages". The only way it worked for me is when I had Google Talk running, and was logged into GMail at the same time.
