I have a Gmail account, but in the UK due to Copyright, Google can no longer issue Gmail, so they have Googlemail. Does anyone here have a Googlemail account and can you send me an Invite please?

Sorry, you don't seem to be clued up with the situation [email]mr_x@gmail.com[/url] == [email]mr_x@googlemail.com[/url].
or [email]asshat@googlemail.com[/url] is [email]asshat@gmail.com[/url] . Your account is automatically converted to the necessary one, and if the dispute goes further then google may change all existing UK accounts to googlemail.com only, but as for now the same name works for all.

I hate the Googlemail name and I am in the UK, but now there are skins that give you the Gmail logo back. IIR are just being greedy though and trying to pick at google's fortunes because the opertunity has arose, they don't really care about the GMail name, they couldn't give a toss, all they want is a massive sum of money because thier basically internal service uses the same name as Google's Mail service.

Also I am in the UK too and it is a real pain in the arse to be effected by this lawsuit.

Kind of strange, I'm french living in Italy (though I created my Gmail account in France) and I'm getting the Google Mail logo since they launched Google Calendar...
But my domain remains Gmail (my address is still in gmail.com). Have google made some communication about this? Are they going to pass every thing to Google Mail? I don't really mind, it's just that it's always better to have a short e-mail address, so I would prefer to keep gmail rather than passing to googlemail

I think that email addresses really know no international boundaries.
If you already have a gmail account, I don't think that'll ever change. Only the name of the differently-trademarked pages
depending on local servers in areas where the name rights are being contested.

Yeah, mondine is right. But if you really want a Gmail account (and not a GoogleMail one), you can select some other country on the sign-up form. I think that that should help.

I don't believe it works that way. For sign-ups, your country is 'read' by your IP address.
As far as I know, the only way people have found a way around this is to use a proxy in a "Gmail" country to sign up.

You could try and use a Proxy? I dont know if this works as i have no problems here in Sunny New Zealand. - I might add though - Using a proxy is SLOW! (some is like being on dialup - stupid t.e.l.e.c.o.m have kept us in the dark ages! So were like on Dialup speed anyway, YAY - Loop Unbundeling!)

Yes, people have reported success by using a proxy.
And of course, it would only be needed for the sign-up. Not regular use.
