PHow can you delete a gmail account by mistake? It gives you plenty of warning when you try to delete one PI don't think there will be an easy way to recover a lost gmail account.

You deleted it five months ago??
I think your chances of recovery have just got even smaller.

After 9 months of no activity, Google deactivates the account, deletes all stored messages and recycles it. This means that the name of the account can be registered again, but with all messages gone.
I think, but not sure, that the same will happen if you deactivate the account yourself.
Have you tried registering another account with the same name?

That won't work. Take this example:

I create XXXX@gmail.com. I decide that I don't want it any more so I delete it.

2 days later, Joe Schmoe, wants to create a gmail account that just so happens to be XXXX@gmail.com.

So he does, and since I just deleted XXXX it is now available for him to use.

Even though I just deleted the account doesn't mean that I would want whomever the next person is to see my personal emails. Therefore, when you delete the account, it is gone. Big Fat Goose Egg, 0. Sorry, buddy, but your gmail emails for that account are long gone. I don't know ANYONE that keeps information that insignificant for 5 months. Google doesn't care to keep your emails. What benefit would they have?

mondine is an unknown quantity at this point
Yes, at this point, you can't re-use that account. If there is any hope of recovering the contents of it, you will just have to keep trying Gmail support, and hope that they reply.
There is basically nothing else you can do, yourself.

If you need a gmail invite to reregister then try my GMail Invite Spooler at : http://michael-m.co.uk/gmail.php . But I don't think you will have much luck in recovering your old mail. I would urge everyone to make backups of their mail using a mail client like Mozilla Thunderbird.
