Google Adsense v Affiliate advertising which way?

Hello, brbrFirst post. I find this community very interesting and I'm sure I will learn a lot.brbrI have just started Adsense and Affiliate advertising on one of my websites and was wondering which way you guys are seeing the most benefit.brI signed up with Commision Junction a week ago and got 5 affiliates which I placed on my site, I also signed up with Google Adsense at the same time and placed links on my site.brbrI'm making money with Google Adsense but not with Affiliate banners. The affiliate banners look like I'm too much of a commerial advertising site and I feel it maybe turning people away so I have turned off all the Affiliate banners and just left Adsense and going to run it for a week to see if my Adsense increases.brbrWhat are people here doing?brbrThanks.br

Itreally depends on your site(s) but with cj.com the trick is to really choose the advertisers which best suit your site thematic, and be realistic about who your average audience is and wants out of your site.

You can not make money with few clicks. You may get something like 1-2 conversions per 100, so need atleast few hundred clicks to make a statistical comparison.

Adsense Vs cj, depends on your niche. Can not make a general statement.

No need for big banners, you can alter your HTML. You cna have text links only that too mixed as a part of the content. cj is more flexible and easy to get clicks.

Get rid of the banners.

People actually look away from banners.

Use in context text links to recommend affiliate products to your visitors. Only recommend top quality products, preferably those you have purchased yourself. Think about it, why would you recommend products you would not purchase yourself?

AdSense has always been my number one earner, what I normally do is use an affiliate as an alternative URL so that AdSense will display this instead of thepublic service ad's if they can't list any of their own adverts.

Banners

The biggest challenge with banners is that people know these are some type of advertisment!!
I believe that most people do not want to be sold anything??

What I really don't like about affiliate ads is that they get to display a nice colorful banner on your page all the time. If nobody clicks it they don't care they are still getting a lot of mileage. If someone does click it then you still don't get paid anything until someone actually purchases something.brbrWith my Google ads when someone clicks I get paid --- Period. Yeah people may not click the google ad that is displayed and yes they still get free advertising but the ads are rotated so they don't get exposure on your site all the time.brbrI think I'm going to leave my 1/2 dozen affiliate ads on my site for a total of one month. If I don't see any benefit I will pull them and use the space for something else.brbrAnyone have any better ideas?br

A little bit of both is the best but you need to learn how to promote affiliate programs not just stick banners all over your pages
cheers
