adds on top vs adds on right

how does one get the adds to be on the top left?

addwords tells me my average position is 2.1; & usually i'm the second add down, on the right hand side

but how does one get listed on the top left hand side, where my competitor's adds are?

tia,

I don't understand your question.
What do you mean by top left? Are you talking about the ads on a particular website?
As far as I'm aware, there is no ad format which gives you more than one column, and more than one tier.

P.S. They are 'ads', not 'adds'.

a typical keyword in my business is "sma adapter". google "sma adapter" & you'll see 2 ads at the top left, 4 ads on the right, & search results on the left

my add is usually the second one down on the right hand side. addwords tells me i'm usually listed at about the number 2 position.

how do i getmy ad on the top left?

thanks,

mondine is an unknown quantity at this point
Do you mean the sponsored links that look like they're in place of the first search results?

I tried searching on the term you mentioned a few times.
The ads in that position were either from Froogle, or another 'search' (Bizrate)
that seems to be in a partership, as their 'search results' offer a link that
is a combination of their referrers and Google's.

I'd assume this shows a different business partnership model than the 'standard'.

interesting. some of my other search terms, like 'sma attenuator", show up in those top left sponsored sites. & i dont participate in froogle or bizrate, at least as far as i know; i've never signed up with them

top left seems to be a premium position; i'd like to be there somehow, but i dont know what the rules are. increasing my maximun $/click to even ridiculous levels doesnt seem to work

thanks,
