Are people ignoring adwords ads now?

I have one of my campaigns that used to have an 80% ROI average. It's been steadily declining over the last 12 months to where it is running in the red.brbrIn January of this year, I had one keyword that gets 2000+ impressions in the #1 or #2 position, about 100 clicks, and about 20-30 of those would convert into sales.brbrCurrent Month July, this same keyword still gets 2000+ impressions in the #1 or #2 position, 4 clicks and 0 sales.brbrI've tried everything to re-writing my ad copy, optimizing my landing page, etc...brbrI can't figure out why people are not clicking on the ad any more. I believe the demand for this product is still strong based on the number of impressions.brbrMy best guess is that people are ignoring the adwords ads and instead looking at the natural listings that come up below the ads.brbrAnyone else having this experience or have any ideas? Am I alone?br

Has your average positioning changed? As I would guess it's more likely that your competitors have improved their ad's or increased their bids rather than the ad's just not being clicked anymore.

I would alsosuggest using http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestionto check you are still targeting the most popular keywords.

My average position has dropped from consistantly #1 to consistantly #2 or #3. My average bid is up from $2 to $3.brbrAfter looking at my keywords again, I found one of the keywords has declined a bit, and another has picked up in search volume. So I re-wrote my ad copy to reflect this. I also lowered my bid so I am in position 4-5 now which puts me in the right hand column.brbrIt's too early to tell, but I got 11 clicks and 3 sales! I don't want to get my hopes up, since a even broken watch is right twice a day. But whether it was the changing adcopy or the pole position, either way I'm happy right now.brbrThanks!br
