a lil bit confused

Hey community members!!
I just joined the community and i'm also kind of new to AdWords and Adsense.
first I created an account with google Adword using the starter edition and I created an ad to appear on google for a friend's web site but i've trying to search using the same keywords I used to create the ad but the web site is just not referenced (does not appear ) so i'm wondering if somebody can help me understand what's actually the problem?

Do you see impressions in your AdWords account? Maybe you set too low a bid, or a geographic limit (i.e. you excluded yourself). Maybe you show on the second results page...

Use Ads Diagnostic Tool:

1. Log in to your Adwords account
2. Campaign Management -> Tools
3. click -> Ads Diagnostic Tool
4. Follow instruction by search your keyword -> click -> then check results

well the ads are placed according to the price and bids so your ads might be placed lower or it might appear in the AdSense of someone else.
