Thrown out of DMOZ because of Adsense?

Hello

Recently I found out that my website was thrown out of the DMOZ directories.

I can't figure out the reason for this. No info is given by the Directory.
I have given it a lot of thoughts.....

I have added more content to my site, own forum etc.

The only reason I can think of is that by adding Adsense to my website I somehow have broken some of the rules nobody (except the editors) know.

Therefore I would like to hear if anybody have had the same expiriense?

What's the URL? It's not likely that adding adsense to your site will get it removed, unless you have so much adsense that the reviewing editor believes the sites exists purely for that reason. Some reasons of why your site might be removed:

1.) When an editor or bot checks it they get a 404. It happens to the best of sites. I've re-reviewed some sites that registered as 404 but were up and running when I checked it later (sometimes a few hours later). So, if you happen to experience some down time then there's the possibility that a bot or editor could have checked the site during that time and got an error page. It depends on the editor if they want to put it into unreviewed or delete it. If I think a site has no chance of returning then I go ahead and delete it.

2.) It was mistakenly listed. Editors aren't infallible. Its possible that it wasn't listable the first time around and another editor has caught the mistake and deleted it.

3.) It was miscategorized. It could have been moved to the unreviewed pool of another, better, category.

4.) You are affiliated with a larger site. For instance, company FYZ decided to buy a domain name for its photography business that goes under the name of XBC. Those sites are affiliated because they are owned by the same company (FYZ). Therefor, only the parent company will be listed. Sometimes it does slip by editors and they'll list the subsidiary, when that happens we'll just change the domain name from the subsidiary's domain to the parent company's domain and leave it listed via the parent company. There are exceptions, but those are rare. It's up to the parent company whether or not they link to their subsidiaries, but we will not list directly to the subsid. and to the parent company and usually the parent is the only one we'll list.

5.) You legitimately or jokingly offered to pay for a listing and it was banned. Keep in mind that if you hire someone to promote your site and that person makes the offer then they are considered to be working on your behalf and your site will still be banned.

6.) Your site has changed content and it needs to be re-reviewed, and the editor didn't want to re-review it at the time so it was put into the unreviewed pile. Or, it was sent to the correct category for its new content. Or, your content has changed and was deemed unlistable in its current state and was deleted.

7.) Editor mistake. Happens sometimes.

Those are just some of the reasons. Feel free to submit again to the correct category if you've reviewed the guidelines and have determined that it is listable. But, it won't be expedited based on the fact that it was previously listed; it'll have to wait again until an editor reviews it. The only time I will quickly relist a site is if they had a short period of downtime when they were unreviewed or if it was removed by mistake, and that depends on if the content is still the same.

Hello Anastacia

Thank You for your reply

I am not allowed to link because I havent postet enough posts yet.
Take my username and put (dot)dk after it and you will see my site.
Or find my website in my profile. Its a danish site.
And there is "some" adsense.

1.) My site WAS hosted at Servage.net and was down lots of time in a period.
Even Google couldn't find me.
I think You are right ind this one

2.) I do not think so. It is better than several of the sites listed. It is a fact and this do not mean that I think to much of my self

3.) No, I have been to the DMOZ forum asking for help. They couldn't say much, but if it has been removed I think they would have told me

4.) No

5.) No and I have nobody to work for me.

6.) Not changed, but more added. It is an info site and there is no "adult" or offending content

7.) No, I have submitted an abuse report. No abuse was found.

I am quite sure that You are right about downtime and that was the reason that my site got removed. Or maybe to much adsense...

Again, thanks for Your reply
