Effective CPM

It looks like Google just added a new statistic to the AdSense Ad Performance tab: Effective CPM.

(They might have had it for awhile, but I only just noticed it.)

CPM stands for cost per thousand. It's revenue based on the impressions -- or the number of times the ads were shown.

I was presently surprised by the overall effective CPM, but the CPM for this site is lagging. Perhaps I will try some different colors in the future.

The colors are fine.

I believe that it could be because of the advertisement's placement--you could move the search engine somewhere like overlapping the bulls-eye thing on the top left, and have the ads starting right where the content does.

Though I don't use the program (yet) I believe that the CPM rates have always been there. Though I don't think that you can earn money from CPM.

I do not think the color has as much effect as the adds displayed, and most of the adds dont really catch your attention.

Catchier colors do have the potential to increase CTR.

CPM has not always been there. "Effective" means the CPM you get calculated from the CPC and impressions, instead of clicks. While we are not paid on a CPM basis, an "effective" CPM rate does exist.
