AdSense and YouTube Stats - Video Units Don't Work!

You might notice that I've removed the bottom Google ads. These were an experiment run from October 15 - October 23, 2007. There are two reasons for their removal:

First, I didn't really like the look of them. I had one YouTube video unit, with two medium rectangles on the right.

Second, they didn't really perform. Out of the five (5) different channels I could track for these ads, the highest eCPM was $0.64, and the lowest was $0.04.

With the number of impressions we're currently getting, the entire ad block, with the YouTube ad and the two medium rectangles, we had a grand combined total earnings average of $0.51 per day.

If you're an AdSense publisher, what are your Video Unit experiences?

That's actually not that bad, though, considering what the previous ad units were earning: a combined total of $0.31 per day average.

The previous ad units were a large rectangle for guests, and a small rectangle for registered users.

But considering the size of the huge video unit, I didn't think the impact on user experience was worth it. The additional 20 cents a day would mean $73 over the course of a whole year.

I could put back the old ad units, but I think it's time for a breather. I hope this encourages you to do some more browsing and posting. More ads will be coming in the future, but they won't be intrusive-- I promise

so you mean to say these video clips really didn't sell unlike image ads? i only use text links for my blogs and i earn .50-1 dollar a day
