Google Impressions?
What counts as an impression? I have been running Adwords for about a week and our CTR is pretty low (0.03 %) and trying to figure out why.
Are Impressions measured by the # of times a keyword that is searched OR is it the amount of times the ad actually shows? For instance, if there are 20 advertisers competing for a keyword and my company is ranked 12th in a given search “paper plates”, we would not show up for the 1st page. Do 2nd page results count as an impression? Question: In below example, what would show as an “Impression” in the Google reports? How is this related to Impression share? Example: Paper plates searched 50 times My ad appears on page 20 times Is Impressions 20 or 50? Is Impression share 40% (20/50) Thanks |

I've still not really worked out why and ad would not be shown - Google explains it is to with your ad's quality score I think. Increasing quality score should mean your ad is shown more often - however a low CTR will affect how often you are shown since low CTR will mean a lower quality score.
