Keyword Listed in Analytics ...

Hi,

When I look at Traffic Souces > Keywords in Analystics, does the listed text entry;

a) reflect the full content, or
b) reflect the relevant content

... input into the Google Search bar by a user?

For example:
I get lots of hits and not great sales, so i am thinking that searchers are looking for FREE stuff and I am not seeing the "free keywording".
i know I can use '-free", but just wantd to understand how it works?

Hi simonwar,

Your analytics report will show you the keywords that people have found you on by searching google (tool bar, affiliate site, and direct google search sites).

Your low sales volume can mean different things.

1. the keyword itself is not as effective as you think.
2. your sites conversion ratio is low in general.

You should try building different landing pages geared toward the specific products and see what type of outcome it has.

Hi,

I am attempting to target users who are looking to buy safety signs and posters that you download and self print.

Until recently I had a very open campaign where "safety signs" was my biggest hit keyword, but was using all of my budget, (i use the budget optimizer), but now I have focussed on "downloadable safety signs" and "printable safety signs", but still trying to needle out my potential buyers before i exhaust my budget.


The domain is

Your site is nice however it was a little confusing when i tried to navigate to specific products.

Im sure that you are directing the traffic from your adwords campaign directly to your homepage? Have you studied your analytics report to see what these users are doing once they have entered your site?

Perhaps you should try to focus on even more targeted keywords like "electricity safety signs". these keywords might not get search as much as safety signs, but since they are so targeted you can direct the traffic directly to the product pages.

To avoid paying for keywords you dont want such as "Free" you should input these keywords into your "negative keywords" this will block your ads from coming up when people type in "free safety sign downloads".
