Drop In Adsense Revenue - Seasonal Adjustments
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I suppose this could be described as "stating the obvious" - but I thought I'd do it anyway.... Quite often we get mixed up in the hurly burly activity of Google Ad placements, keywords, CPM, CTR etc etc and forget about some of the most obvious things that may effect your revenue, such as "seasonal adjustments". 1. If you sell Christmas decorations - your website will probably have less visitors in the middle of summer, than in the winter months - hence less clickable revenue. 2. And - your "skisoldhere.com] is likely to see an increase in traffic during winter than opposed to Julyugust time. Equally, the summer months might see a short drop off overall during "peak vacation" time. So, for those of you in your first year of Google Adsense publishing, don't go mental and start moving ads around, changing web design, SEO etc when you see a drop in earnings over the next few months - it just might well be that everyone has gone off camping! (p.s. good luck for those with camping equipment websites!) -hello2paul |
