AdSense FAQ

Hi Guys and Gals,

I decided to create a guide to the most commonly asked questions.

1) Question:
My account has been suspended, what can I do?

Answer:
You could get a family member to apply for a new account. Google may initially reject the application, but reply to their email stating that the account they refer to is a member of your family. It's 1 account per person... not per household!

2) Question:
What happens if I click my own ads? Am I allowed to, if the subject interests me?

Answer:
If you click your own ads you will be commiting click fraud. Google may suspend your account and not credit you for those clicks.

You are not allowed to click your ads. If you have done so by accident, contact Google and inform them that it was an honest mistake. Be proactive... they won't be hard on you!

3) Question:
What is the most effective ad layout?

Answer:
The most effective advert layout that over 86% of adsense users report is the 336x280 (large text rectangle). However, it will vary depending on the site and its audience. Test different formats!

4) Question:
I'm earning a low amount of revenue... should I move on?

Answer:
No, because if you do, you'll probably only have the same poor results with the next website.
Instead, try playing with the advert layout. Move the ads about on the page once a week to determine the best placement.

5) Question:
What is the format Google uses for the text style and color for their ads?

Answer:
Below you can find a style sheet entry I created that contains the font size, font family, and URL color that Google uses by default.

Code:
.links {
	font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 11px;
	color: #0033FF;
}
Consider applying that to links on your site to blend it in.
To blend the rest of your text in, duplicate the entry above, but remove the color #0033FF.

6) Question:
How do I add AdSense to my phpBB forum?

Answer:

Thanks to fine for the link.

What do you mean by 'payment rate'? Checks are cut monthly; the amount paid per ad varies depending on numerous factors.
