Misleading Adword Advertisers causing havoc w/ my Adsense
I own and operate a website dedicated to the FDNY (Fire dept of NY City). Among other things, we are an ecommerce website, and we deal mainly in LICENSED FDNY goods. The term 'FDNY' is trademarked by NY City, and they are very tight on what goods can be sold w/ the letters FDNY on them, and how and where the letters can be used.
One of the most commonly used terms on our website is 'FDNY'. So the spiders acknowledge that and uses appropriate ads. However, there are several companies out there that use 'FDNY' in their ads (ads that, in turn, end up on our site) and the goods they offer have NOTHING to do with the FDNY. But the text ads displayed on our pages include the terms (FDNY Shirt, FDNY Merchandise, etc...) So, WE get heat from the legal dept of NY City, because to them, we are running FDNY ads from co's that have nothing to do with FDNY, thereby condoning the illegal use of 'FDNY'. Is there any way Google can stop these companies from misusing a trademarked item such as FDNY? |
