Is two AdSense accounts in the same household a good idea?

A couple of weeks ago I got the "invalid clicks" email and my AdSense account went - but don't worry, this posting isn't to complain about it.*

What I'd like to ask people with more experience is whether this will make it difficult for my wife to start an AdSense account for her own site? The different SSN should be enough but will Google need extra persuasion before they believe it's not me in a dress? :)

Assuming it's fine, will we be able to add adverts with her ID onto my site? And would people recommend doing that or waiting for Yahoo to bring out their version?

Any comments pro or con are welcomed.

* My earnings rapidly increased at least fourfold, I thought it was changes I'd made but I've since had a couple of users saying that it's a shame because they had started clicking a lot of adverts so I'd get something for the site... Well, they were meaning good I guess.

It turns out - in this case at least - that Google doesn't like the idea. My wife got a standard letter saying that:

"Publishers whose accounts have been disabled for invalid clicks are not allowed further participation in the AdSense program."

When she explained she'd never had an account to have been disabled the only response was an email with the same message.

Even though it appears though google is acting funny, their method ( god knows what) atleast prevents having a site for the sake of adsense.

I'd disagree - I'm finding more and more sites where the 'content' is a couple of shallow paragraphs about a subject, and there's AdSense blocks on all sides. Those, to me, are sites for the sake of AdSense.

You have to see it from the advertiser's point-of-view. I see this as a justified account termination because there were "invalid" (or inflated) clicks. You may be interested in trying the Yahoo Publisher Network (I've had reasonable results with them so far).

I don't have any doubt that there was some click activity Google didn't like - getting a warning or information about the activity from Google would have been useful, but it's their game so we have to play by their rules.

What I was trying to find out was whether this would prevent my wife getting an account. The form email Google sent when we asked didn't answer the question directly, just saying that once you're out you have to stay out, so she's applied and we'll see what happens.

As for YPN, I've applied to them and am still waiting to hear back. With my site content being UK based a lot of the smaller companies don't want to include me in their scheme.

I am preety sure that since she has the same surname and the same adress as you they will block it, they will also block your website.

Try one of then other companies is the only solution i think.

Your wife could always use her maiden name and change a number in your address by one. This will still get you your mail because most mail..people see that 2312 is really 2313, mostly because there is NO 2312 across the street so it has to be you.

This pretty much makes her totally different from you. But I don't recommend you putting ads from her account into yours because then if your site has suspicious clicking again, as it just might, she will lose her account, then both of you will have to use the obviously inferior YPN.
