I did spot check a few of these, and the $$ quoted are about right. However, the bids quoted are what it would cost for a new campaign to start and get the #1 position in the google network (google page only), not the google content sites (adsense publishers).brbrExperienced advertisers have much lower bids to get the same position because they have higher click throughs, bigger daily budgets, and extremely optimized landing pages. For example, one keyword that I've bidded on for 2 years shows up at about $15. I actually pay only $2-$3 for positions 1 and 2. I don't even bid in the google content area, but when I do, I usually bid no more than 50 cents, more often I bid 10 cents.brbrSo in practice, use the keyword list as a guide, but don't expect to make anything near what the bids show. The most I've ever gotten on a single click is $2, and that was for a keyword that was in the $25 range.brbrbr

High paying keywords are really there to help you find good niche site ideas, but don't spend too much time analyzing the price per bid because it changes all the time. It is there mostly to help you put things into perspective

IMHO that "Top Paying Keywords" stuff is really variable. So one man bids for "mesothelioma", or what is considered as #1, $100, and his budget is off-the-pool in 3 days.. so it may be true that mesothelioma is sky-high, but there are few ads on it: few publishers post in such categories. The most targeted areas are IT&C and Life. So don't build a site around cancer imho..
