No indexing since 3 weeks (no "indexing" menu item)

Hi,
I am new in this forum. (I am from Germany. I hope you will excuse my english. (I will translate the german names shown in the german version of GD.))

I have installed Google Desktop 3 weeks ago. Since then GD did not index any files or mails. The GD help said, that I should start the indexing via the "indexing" menu item in the context menu (start bar). But there is no such menu item. There are only "Desktop Search", "Options", "Sidebar", "Deskbar", "Floating Deskbar", "None", "Info" and "Exit".

Did i make a mistake during installation? Is the installation not complete? (no indexing available?) When I select a directory explicitly for crawling the tools says: "Crawling not yet started".

Is there any possibility to enable the search?

Thank you very much,
Mirco
