Gmail Indexing...how long does it take?

I installed the Google Desktop 2 the other day, and ever since it's been "indexing" my Gmail. My Gmail only has 70MB of messages in it. Is it ever going to finish heh (no seriously!)

Basic answer, the Google Desktop Search program stays indexing your Computer all the time!

I have been waiting for GMail to be indexed, for at least 2 days.

The machine gets very slow and eventually the downloading from gmail.com appears to abort.

I have also tried to use "Larry's GMail Indexer" - every 30 minutes, I get the following message in the log:

'Failed to download new Gmail messages: 'No data was received.'

I am seriosly considering forgetting about trying to index my Gmail and to use Google Desktop 2 purely for file searching and not for e-mail.

Comments would be appreciated, before I pull the plug.

WHat if I have to power down during while GDS is still creating its first index? Wheb I reboot then will GDS know it hasn't indexed most of my data?

I think GDS adds new data if GDS is running while the new files are opened or closed. But what if they are not being used?
