How much space does Google Desktop take up on your computer? I'm asking this question because the space taken up by it on your computer may be directly linked to the slow running of your computer.

P.S. Google Desktop is very amusing. On intelliot's (the site administrator's) computer, it takes up a whole 2.01 GB! But on my computer, it takes up only 5.19 MB. So, it's really quite funny.

performance

I think its great software, in comparison to what else is out there. Granted indexing everything you have for the first time takes its time. To be honest in this day and age the amount of stuff we rack up is enormous. I have 120Gb in my work pc and 400Gb at home, both full. I've been using computers for years and granted some of that is music (legal of course) and applications and cd iso's and stuff GDesktop indexed thousands of my emails and files everyday. I love the way it works and if you set you machine up as clean as possible then it runs fine. Just had virtual memory on each partition it runs on, so it doesn't have to sway between partitions. Have 1Gb of RAM, too large some might say but having that reduces CPU load, disk read and writes and make the machine alot happier! i'd call it a minimum these days especially with windows xp!

Same here, too. I love Google Desktop (and all of Google's products).

well, nowadays, having 2gb ram won't really help if you have 1.8ghz or something, the CPU load may be reduced, but only overclocking could increase your processing speed I believe
