Huge size of index even after removing many options

I let GDesktop index with default settings. It took about 400MB. Later, I removed Indexing of Files (text, media, MS Office etc) But still it keeps consuming same disk space!

I think it is better not to use GDesktop. We have Windows search and Other tools too!

What you guys say?

regards

Really this is a problem but rather a small one with falling prices of hardware i think users can manage to add additional space and 400 mb is a too little space

400 mb today is about the same as 400bytes way back when. With HDD prices falling to less than a buck per gig in most cases ($.50 on sale), we can afford 400mb. Most home user pcs today come with a minimum 80gig drive, 20 of which MIGHT be used by the average home user in the hdd life. And if you aren't a home user, then you most likely don't have less then a 200 gigger any way.

What about the index-size??? The index is used to scan-through, the larger the size of it, more the time taken. Eventually, the GDesktop has to update it as per file system updates.

There is no question of the disk-space limitations. If GDesktop cannot handle the user's requirements (disabling the indexing) it is a failed software itself. Moreover, it crashes a lot with its plugins!
