Google maps: street view

I just read this on google news.. you can captured images at street in 17 US cities and attached them to Google Maps..

How do they automatically blur faces in street view? is this skin color that the software detects? how about black people? if it is the human figure, how the software can tell if the figure behind the steering wheel is a human figure? somethimes things (news) are over stated.

Well those personal cameras now a day have facial recognition and can tell if your eyes are open or closed. If your eyes are closed it wont snap the picture until you open them.

So im guessing all they had to do is implement the facial recognition hardware and software and write a code which would blue out a certain amount of pixels per square inch around the eyes or face in order to cover the face...
