Googlebar: multiple engines possible?

I have Googlebar on Firefox (of course). Handy to have word-search fill up with search terms, too. On the upper (on mine) toolbar, I also have a Firefox search slot, which includes several search engine choices (e.g., Dogpile, MSN, Yahoo, Amazon, ebay...)

Has anyone managed to "consolidate" the search-engine-choice element (that comes with Firefox) with the Google search tool (that comes with Googlebar) ... (so that the word-search would still pick up search terms?)? It surely would save some real estate...I have too many Googlebar buttons!

It looks very promising, but...

It also looks like a wholesale replacement for the entire Google toolbar! I have my Google toolbar highly customized (including my essential "bookmarks" button!). Will these still be possible, accessible, when I logon my gmail account on a foreign computer (in a public library, say, in "Podunk, Iowa"?)
