Why does screensaver ignore subfolders

I like the apple-like Google Screensaver, but it appears to dislike the structure of my photo files. I create a folder for each year (eg 200 then I create a sub-folder for each month (eg 01jan0 and then sometimes sub-folders in there for special events. So I have about a dozen main folders, each of which has 12 sub folders, each of which has between zero and 6 sub-folders. Now when I open settings in Google Screensaver, and select the folder 2008, NOTHING gets transferred, because all the photos are in subfolders. The only way to get Google Screensaver to get all the pics is to add the folder with only ONE level of sub-folders below it. I don't have that much time!!

A similar problem occurs in Picasa, by the way.

The google approach favours a flat earth approach to file organisation. That is, DON'T organise. Why would you need sub-folders when you can just Google? Unfortunately, I started using computers in 1982, just a few years before Google came along. It's a bit hard to change the accumulated organisation of many years. I ended up not using the Google screensaver and instead use MotionPicture Screen Saver which does a reasonable impersonation of the Apply screensaver and does recognise sub-folders. You can find it just by Googling, naturally.
