Post Google Desktop uses almost all CPU

Hi,

Currently using Google Desktop version:
Google Desktop 5.7.0806.10245-en-GB-pb
I notice that GDS is constantly consuming almost 100% of the CPU power of my PC (running WinXP - SP3).

I first thought it was a combination of FireFox and GDS, but also when closing FF, GDS continues to consume so much CPU power.

Anyone any idea what is causing this?

Best rgds,
--Geert

sp3

probably because SP3 takes up a load of processes.
also if you dont have more than 256 ram youll be getting bombed by it.

how much ram have you got?
ive got 4gb on my home one and 2gb on my work.
both work fine

At the time I faced the problem, my PC had 1GB of RAM. In the mean time, I've added another 2GB of RAM, making a total of 3GB of RAM.

I could try installing Google Desktop again and see what the outcome is now.

I'll let you know.

toolbar

il be honest with you just use google chrome instead of firefox or IE.

the google bar uses its own process where as firefox builds up to one singular one making massive amounts of cpu usage.

Thanks

Hmm.... Google Chrome? It's one of the most insecure browsers available on the market...

Thanks for the hint, but I definitely won't jump into such adventure...

If, after installing 3GB of RAM, GoogleDesktop again starts to eat up all my CPU resources (doesn't do so far), I'll just switch to Copernic Desktop Search...
