What is the approximate daily volume of posts at this site? I can only handle so much from one RSS feed. High volume sites really should break things down with an RSS feed for each section.

OK, I've subsribed to the GC feed. At least the feed includes entire posts and not just a headline or snippet.

And Google Reader suddenly works in Opera. That's a pleasant early improvement.

Glad to hear that!

I see that Google Reader can play podcasts. Is Google the first to do this? Or do other readers play podcasts along with their newsfeeds?

Its a nice litte addition for Google. I like simplicity of the page. I think it could be improved substantially, but its only in Beta, and still in the Google Lab, so there is still a lot of time. Would be good to see it integrate into the Personalised homepage, but lets see what the future holds.

thumbs down

Not a fan of the new Google Reader. I prefer to use two other Google services to read my feeds: Gmail and the Personalized Home (I use rssfwd.com to have feeds emailed to me, but I know there are others). I thought that GReader might be a great way for me to browse feeds of interest that I don't regularly read. Unfortunately it lacks the speed/manageability of numerous other aggregators, and the layout is somewhat constricted.

It seems like every Feedreader I've recently used lets me easily play podcasts by clicking a link to the MP3 file. It is neat that I can handle text and audio feeds together. And by the way, I've stopped using Opera's feedreader and started using SharpReader. I like it because I can manually refresh feeds as frequently as I want. Google Reader neither let's you do that nor let you set the refresh rate. I still don't know how often Google Reader checks for new feeds. That, for me, defeats a big part of the purpose of RSS feeds. I want new content as it is published, not what might be hours after.
