Google Reader Released

Google feed reader is out. I'm trying to see how to import my lists of feeds from Opera. I also hoe that I can set the reader to check the feeds as fequently as Opera can, every 5 minutes.

I think this is pretty neat. I was mesing around with http://reader.google.com with Reuters and Cnet news. Pretty neat concept really.

The first reply to my post is Greek to me. Google Reader doesn't seem to work in Opera. But Opera has the best RSS reader for what I want, although it isn't portable the way Google Reader, or any web based reader, is.

And how do I delete the hundreds of newsfeeds coming through Google Reader once I've read them?

Hey there. I couldn't find anything to do this when I was looking for it, so I wrote my own: Opera to OPML converter.

Fairly simple, just a web page with a couple of buttons. Works fine though.

Sorry for the confusing post, I was a bit sleep deprived. You're right about Opera, you can't see some of the stuff in reader with it. I could see the plain text summary of the feeds but not the titles. I imagine Google will fix this but it's probably not a priority for them since Opera is a pretty small user base. It runs fine in FireFox for me though.

The converter works for me. But Opera's feed reader is the only one I know of that I can set to check for new feeds as frequently as every 5 minutes. I am baffled that all these feed readers give you no control over how frequently they update. What use are they for breaking news feeds and active forums? I have some hope that Google will make their reader the best it can be, but it isn't there yet.
