I doubt they'll directly release a port of GTalk for Linux. They'll most likely aim for a higher potential userbase with Windows. Placing workforce on Linux development will distract them in improving the Windows version.
Mainstream sucks, yeah, but face it, that's the only way to go if you want anything full-featured. So it's time to stop being an elitist and use a dual-boot partition. |

Google talk protocol is Jabber based... which works on Linux
get the Gaim IM client for free and follow the instructions on the google talk site to configure it for Gtalk. sure you want the conferencing.. but I think they will stick with windows for that unless someone creates an off shoot of jabber that supports the other features in the Gtalk protocol.... I am very sure there are peoples that could make that happen. |
