Is there a way to get a version of Google Talk on Windows ME

I think the title basically sums it up.

I use Windows ME and I would love to use Google Talk with my Gmail account, because it is designed for gmail and the adverts are less irritating than on MSN Messneger.

I read something about configuring Trilian PRO, but I am not really sure.

Thanks to anyone who can help

Oli

Thanks, but this setup didn't work - it said

"You need to have Windows 200, XP, NT or later. You have " (didn't say ME) "Would you like to continue the setup anyway?".

I clicked "yes" but it came up with another error message:

"GOOGLETALK.exe is missing the export KERNEL32.dll: GetLastInputInfo.

Is this a problem with my particular version of Windows ME or does the program not work on any Windows ME.

Thanks,

Oli

I'm afraid you're out of luck, there. But you can use Google Talk with other programs, like Gaim, Miranda, or (what I use) Trillian Pro.
(Only the 'pro' version of Trillian supports the necessary Jabber protocol).

So if I did use these programs, would they come up with the layout of Google Talk?

Thanks,

Oli

No, it would be interface of whichever client you use.

No, they all have their own interface, and individual features (some similar, some not). It would only be the GoogleTalk Service you're using.
Here's their 'Other Client' page.

I can't comment specifically on GAIM, since I haven't used it. But the various services use different protocols, and can't communicate directly.
You have to set up individual accounts within the program for each service.
