Competing? In what areas are Google and AOL in competition?

I suppose on one side we have a Google Talk-AIM-ICQ alliance, and the other side a MSNM-Y!IM coalition?

This is getting interesting...

It certainly makes 'omnibus' programs like Trillian more attractive than ever.
I just 'turn it on', and everything, (including IRC) is connected.

I have to admit, though. The idea of someone on AOL being able to IM me is still a little disconcerting. I'm still not sure those people should be allowed out in public without supervision.

With Google paying one billion for a 5% share of AOL, it makes good sense. There are 50 million AIM (AOL) users currently. Hiring Sean Egan a lead developer of Gaim is smart, too. The new Google Talk Voice features are included in the beta 2.0 of Gaim and it can be found here.

This is great news I currently use Trillian because I have AIM, MSN and Yahoo messengers. Is there any word of also supporting MSN and Yahoo?
