Hi guys,
When applying a background picture to the web site, that slowly fades away down, it adds some nice look ( on 24-32bit color display ) but I'm concerned about users (who still use 16bit color settings) , it looks just ugly for them! As we all know, nowadays people use modern powerful computers that support 32bit, but the fact is that in some very poor countries they still have old computers on their desks in schools, so my question is: Should I ignore users having 16 bit displays for my next web site ??? Don't ask what web site is about or who may be the visitors. There is no middle in this question! You can't ignore a person a little bit, you either ignore them or not! 1. As an example, open and see background picture on Microsoft Corporation for example. 2. Then try switching to 16bit colors in Control Panel->Display->Settings->Color Quality: 16bit and open that page again to see how nice it looks after that! Your comments appreciated, |

Interesting question: "what would happen if I leave them out?" - I will get one angry visitor!
"Does it bother me?" - Well, yes, maybe that visitor is one small kid from a poor country who's probably already got used to see ugly pictures on his browser, but making his life more miserable (as working on i286/386pc) does not make me a good designer then. Thanks for reply "lefty" and "archaznable"! |

Hi,
An interesting topic that many webmasters nearly forget about discussing it. Well, having semi old computers is not really limited to some people in some parts of the world. Many are still sticking to their older OS and system because they simply use their PC for checking their web based email account or browse something. But very quickly, maybe in a year or so, they all will be having to upgrade their software and hardware parts simply because they have to, otherwise even a simple email checking would not be possible. |
