What Makes a Template "Good"?

In your guys mind, what do you think makes a template "good"?

Do you thnk that in order for a template to be considered good it should be a one of a kind?

What type of ad placement do you think is best for proxy sites specifically? (EX. Around the URL bar etc)

I am currently looking around and tweaking some of my own templates right now.

Some of my idea for a good template
Simple for easy navigation
Must be compatible in all browser standards?
Valid HTML codes
Valid CSS codes

correct!

it also depends on your type of website. For business purposes, simple navigation at the header and sidebar. I prefer not to use flash for easy loading. I use cms for seo-friendly and easy modifications. For personal website, cool and stylish designs and I prefer to use flash sometimes to look more hippie.

Well a good template should have a very good and standout logo design, a good color combinations, and some interactive animation like flash or gif animation etc.

simple yet organized template is a good one, not necessarily a jpeg background just arrange your contents and boom its ok. in colors, black, gray and red ones really do the trick
