Google Logo
I fancy making a Google like logo for my website and wondered if anyone had any suggestions. I've tried with Paintshop 8.1 but I can't get the bubble text right. I've got Photoshop CS too but haven't tried it as of yet.
I've got a font that looks similar and the colours look good, so does the shadow but the text doesn't bubble right. HELP!!! |

Definitely bevel and emboss like alen suggested. In version 6, you can choose the direction of the light source from a moveable radius of a circle (Am I making any sense? Haha). So the direction of the light should be the top left I think.

You can get in trademark issues if your site becomes very big and popular, else you won't be getting in to much trouble.
Just try to make something similiar to it but not the exact copy of it with other sort of wordstyle or whatever, color maybe same but the rest u can change. |

Trademark issues
As long as your logo has a slightly different look, google cannot say much. But if you choose the same colors per letter and with the font almost exactly the same, there would be a copyright infringement lawsuit if your website or company became noticeable.
But if you don't mean to become large, i.e. your website is made as a side thing, maybe a hobby, and your revenue from it is not extreme, you won't become highly noticeable. My brother was using some AIM content on his website for a while. The visitors were only a few thousand then, and AOL either didn't notice or didn't care at first. But then his website exploded with visitors to that section of his website, and his visitors per day more than tripled. It took only a few days for AOL to send a formal warning to delete all the content. And he had to comply, as he didn't make enough money off the site to pay for the lawsuit. It shows how companies are looking for copyright infringements, but they don't care about the little guys getting under or near a minimum wage from their site. Fah Hem |
