Google's PageRank as a marketing tool

Lots of people use Google's PageRank as a marketing tool, is it the way to go ? Will it last ?

as matt cutts suggest - don't focus more in PR... so i guess its not all about PR anymore and for the near future.. but still one of the references as reputable sites...

Google page rank..... why does it not stand with reputation?

Because it does not show traffic value, but mostly tells you that this web site has been bookmarked and having many back links, so basically it's like reputation/reward points.

Will it last long? I think Google will continue upgrading PR algorithms in the future, especially when they face great competition from eBay, Yahoo and Microsoft. We'll see where it goes, but definitely PR conception will stay for long!

For me higher PR is useless if the site has less traffic. Site must focus more on how to drive traffic to the site than having higher PR.

Page Rank is still important in getting quality backlinks. As many said that page rank is still not important at all, for me is one factor in choosing a link exchange partners. You need to consider also the traffic and relevancy of a site.

I do not focus on PR, just on relevant backlinks and your traffic wil come!
Good PR does not say that you wil have much traffic.
Quality backlinks do!
So why focus on PR??

Good point...

Google still assigns weight based on the PR of the linking page. If you want to get the highest backlink value, you really should consider all of the relevant factors.
