I wouldn't say, that he is the only one that made success by combining marketing with internet web site (popups, ads, etc). He is successful and so are others. I think hard work is what pays off but getting the right idea is very helpful.

He sold Avon at 12 years old and signed his mom up in his downline. He joined prepaid legal services at 14 and started a stationery company at 15. He taught piano lessons to neighborhood kids at 15 ½ and was the president of his school at 16. At 16 ½, he lLaunched a site called Shop2x.com and he joined SMC and launched J. Griggs Home Shopper's Club.

And it IS spam - an unsolicited ad for a product.

If you really want to provide free information for the betterment of the human race, I would use Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople as your mentor. That is a good example of a company that is living it's mission - to help the human race become healthier.
