Will a truck driver strike work to lower fuel costs?

I would like to see what everyone else is thinking about the outrageous fuel costs we are experiencing today. I have heard that the truckers are going to strike and I am not sure if it will work. I believe it has been the countries goal to eliminate the independent trucker for some time. JB Hunt, Schneider, Werner, you see more and more of these trucks on the road. You can relate this to the big boxes we now buy our everyday products from, Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. It didn't take long to eliminate the small guy here so in my opinion it is just a matter of time before the indendent trucker is eliminated as well, unless we stand up and do something about it....LIKE STICK TOGETHER and support them.

Sounds like a good idea. How do you suggest that we support them?

I know we all have a job and need to get to and from work. But what about our weekends. Do we really need to go drive around. If we all cut back on our activities and didn't drive around so much we would all decrease not only our spending but also decrease the amount of fuel we would normally use. Maybe if the fuel companies saw that there is a tremendous change in fuel being purchased they just might lower it. Nothing can happen overnight but if we all did this it would take some time and maybe we could win.
