Saying Hi

Just introducing myself. I joined because I have not been able to access my gmail since April and by searching for solutions...I ended up here. I use VISTA and IE. I found 2 solutions that worked:

1. click to open your account like regular, get the cannot display page and then add an "s" to the http part, making it "https:", then click enter again and you're in... or
2. use this link, I added it to favorites: http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1

I wish Google would send us all an email of how to permanently correct this. My google gadget on my google home page shows my inbox stuff, but its link doesn't work, and deleting all cookies didn't work either. I read other posts here that referred to other places in the forum to look, but I couldn't find what they were referring to because I'm new and no links to the other areas were posted.

I did not subscribe to any posts because my inbox is so full, due to the above problem, but I hope to check in on this post on and off. Recently, I'm only on the internet only 1-2 times per week. It varies. So, if I don't say hi or thanks, please understand that I probably just haven't been on-line. Thanks!
