The Google Phone - Why Would Google Make a Phone?

Andy Rubin, with a team of 100 Googlers, is reportedly working on a Google Phone. Andy founded Danger and later Android, which he sold to Google in August 2005.

In July 2005, Google acquired Reqwireless, a mobile applications company.

Later in 2005, Google bought Skia-- this acquisition isn't even on the Wikipedia list of acquisitions. Skia, founded by Mike Reed, worked on a vector-based presentation engine. This might be used for charting in Google Spreadsheets.

Here's some info about the phone:

Blackberry-like, slick device
C++ core w/ OS bootstrap (some version of Linux?)
Optimized Java running on the C++ core (similar to what Andy did at Danger)
Vector-based presentation courtesy of Skia’s technology
Many services, including VoIP

I attached a leaked picture, but it may not be accurate: it looks too much like an iPhone.

i am getting the iPhone, but a google phone would be just as cool. Heres an article on Gizmodo about the latest Google Phone Info...and another fake design...

If they are making a google phone I would like to see one special feature that is integrated on the phone called "I'm Feeling Lucky" botton ....
