Copy-protected SONY CDs?

A [partial?] listing of SONY CDs with SONY's recently discovered and nefarious XCP copy-protection follows. Anyone own any of these? Will you now think twice before buying another SONY CD, or any CD because it has copy-protection? (Me? No way. I'll let my dollars vote against that stupidity.)

Trey Anastasio, Shine (Columbia)
Celine Dion, On ne Change Pas (Epic)
Neil Diamond, 12 Songs (Columbia)
Our Lady Peace, Healthy in Paranoid Times (Columbia)
Chris Botti, To Love Again (Columbia)
Van Zant, Get Right with the Man (Columbia)
Switchfoot, Nothing is Sound (Columbia)
The Coral, The Invisible Invasion (Columbia)
Acceptance, Phantoms (Columbia)
Susie Suh, Susie Suh (Epic)
Amerie, Touch (Columbia)
Life of Agony, Broken Valley (Epic)
Horace Silver Quintet, Silver's Blue (Epic Legacy)
Gerry Mulligan, Jeru (Columbia Legacy)
Dexter Gordon, Manhattan Symphonie (Columbia Legacy)
The Bad Plus, Suspicious Activity (Columbia)
The Dead 60s, The Dead 60s (Epic)
Dion, The Essential Dion (Columbia Legacy)
Natasha Bedingfield, Unwritten (Epic)
Ricky Martin, Life (Columbia) (labeled as XCP, but, oddly, our disc had no protection)

Sony is recalling all the CDs with the questionable software:

You're likely right. Looking at those maps and then considering the tendency of the average consumer [either to remain uninformed or not give a hoot], Sony's rootkit has left countless compromised computers in its wake.

However, I think I've heard that Microsoft plans to remove or disable Sony's nefarious copy-protection scheme in a regularly scheduled Windows Update.

Now why does that seem weird? Microsoft removing someone else's copy protection, even if it is dangerous, just seems too strange given its "give no quarter' stance on both security and the copying of Microsoft's own software--with its myriad security holes.

Hmmm...I wonder if it might have anything at all to do with the ongoing and vicious Sony PlayStation vs. Microsoft X-Box wars.

lol @ dodgy techniques
Remedy software tried something similar and they failed. History just repeats itself over and over.

It's mostly interesting because it sets a law precedence regading DMCA. If some company can disable copy protection of another company, why consumers can't? (in any case)
