font size="2"span style="font-family: Verdana;"there's this rumor here in our place that the movie might be 'ban' because it is not what the catholics were taught of. i think they're scared because people might believed what they watch. how i wish they'll not ban it coz i really wanna watch it... /spanimg style="font-family: Verdana;" src="/richedit/smileys/Sad/4.gif" border="0"span style="font-family: Verdana;"/span/font

I'm not sure if I am going to see the movie--I might get the book. I have seen a number of shows that point out that the book is not based on purefact. It seems that the book is based on more fiction than fact.I am Catholic, but I'm not "religeous'. I do believe that the earlyChurch "fathers"supressed the role of Mary Magdalene because they were threatened by the role of women in the Church, but I don't believe that she and Jesus were an item, or got married, or had a child.

Of course, the Church had the last word on what was truth, and what was heresy, so we look at the Gnostic Gospels, and other apocryphal books with suspicion. I'm not sure if Dan Brown actually consulted these books, but maybe he should have, instead of relying on books and sources that were of dubious value. At least the apocryphal books may havebeen closer to the truth. After all, those Gospels suggested that Jesus and Mary Magdalene had a close relationship, it did not say that the relationship was sexual in nature. That is only conjecture.

One thing I am sure of is this--Dan Brown is making a mint feeding off of the public's love for a good conspiracy theory, and sex and violence, to boot. I'm not at all surprised that a movie is being made based on the book. It will be interesting to see how closely the moviematches the exact storyline of the book. I'm pretty sure that Hollywood will throw something into the movie that wasn't in the book. That almost always happens.

I just read about this in the newspaper. It seems the release of The Da Vinci Code might be postponed in a few countries (or in all countries) because of a dispute between the makers of the film and the Church. The Church wants the film to have a disclaimer at the start of the movie. According to them, the disclaimer should say that the movie is a purely fictional piece of work, and any resemblance to characters living or dead is purely coincidental. Apparently, Ron Howard - the director of the film - said that spy and thriller movies don't have disclaimers at the start. So, let's see what happens. But whatever happens and whoever wins, I hope the film isn't postponed.

I really like the book. Not sure if I want to see the movie. You picture things in your mind and most of the times it's dissapointing to see the movie. Also because a lot of time they change the script

How did you see the movie? The Da Vinci Code is supposed to be rated "adult" in Maharashtra. As far as I know, you're only 14.
As for a few scenes being cut from the movie, I suppose that had to be done. If everything was included, the movie would be very long.
The same thing has had to be done with most movies based on books, like the Harry Potter movies.
