They did hire one of the lead developers of Mozilla Firefox. However, I haven't heard any facts about any web browser from Google.
Have you guys seen WebKit? It's Safari - Apple's browser - in open source form. It's standards compliant (passes Acid2 test). |

No, Firefox will stay!
Being addicted to Firefox,
I can say that unless it was open source, AND really Firefox only with more features, That I might get it. But wouldn't it be cool if it had Dtop search, Picasa, and more! All from one interface! O well, I can dream! |

Well, there are a lot of rumors, and Google is hiring a lot of people. Its as if they are hoarding the best programmers so that the large companies break down without smart businessmen and Google and open-source programs remain. Then google has only to buy sourceforge.net and other places and Google will own the world.
Haha, just kidding. But they are hiring a lot, each new employee causes a new rumor almost. A browser is definetely not imminent as Google has to first do the GoogleNet service, then say the GBrowser or whatever works more efficiontly with their internet. |
