Microsoft goes after Google News
Quote:
In an effort to go head to head with Google, Microsoft is testing a new service on its MSNBC news site. The service, nicknamed MSNBC Newsbot, will gather news from multiple sources, enabling users to get up-to-the-minute headlines. The aggregation service is very similar to what Google News currently offers.
In addition to the headline gathering, Newsbot will purportedly allow users to customize their own news pages, tailoring the types of headlines they will see. This is similar to Google's customized alerts.
The Newsbot service is currently available in beta format at MSN, with the following headline:"Dear Reader: Our newsbot is an automated test scan of the Net's most current headlines and is designed to enhance the breadth of MSNBC.com. Your feedback is welcome."
