Yeah i agree with you. I does remind me of yahoo. And that is one thing they should not do. Try to keep away from yahoo as much as possible. They need create their own image if they want to be suscessful. One thing for sure is that they need to put more work into it. I expect it to since they are in beta mode. Otherwise i dont know. But i like the idea, like one person said, about getting groups in google.

i think i'll wait for it to get out of the beta mode before i switch over to it. even then i'm not a big fan of groups. they just don't make much since to me. i'll just stick to my bulletin boards. oh well. i could always use the GC.

I have been managing a mailing list (aka Group) for the last 6 years. I started in listbot, until Microsoft bought it, then we went to eGroups, but Yahoo! bought it and it became so slow, it rejected people, lost messages... so we went to elistas.net, a Spanish similar service, but it's becoming as messy as Yahoo! was.

GoogleGroups is great news for me. I have already registered our group there and I'm just waiting for a few changes to be implemented, specially Spanish language interface.

As an anecdote, just let me tell you, last week there wasn't "Delete this group" option. So I e-mailed them to ask them what should I do in case I didn't want the group any more? And I got a reply saying that was a good suggestion. Yesterday I saw the "Delete this group" link placed in the "Manage" section.

That's what's great about Google: users count!

gg2 has come a long way. i've been using it for about 6 months. it does however need more work (still). i think google has done a good job thus far, though. :]

I'm excited about google groups 2, I've been wanting to phase out more of my Yahoo experience on the web. I too , started out using egroups way back when and loved my experience there. At the time I didn't have any perspective, but I quickly gained it when Yahoo bought them out. It seems that they amass huge data bases and neglect to upgrade their servers/services as they go. I've been turned off by yahoo groups ever since. They do have nice intergration making it very easy to toggle around within their portal, but it has always felt impersonal and clunky to me.

Well you guys, I'm no longer a member of any 'google groups 2', lack of subject matter and participation were the big reasons. I'll try again later down the road when it seems more appealing. I don't like the interface either, IMO, they need a new look with better functionality.
