Google launches Picasa 2.

Well I'm a bit late on this but...
Quote:
On January 18th, Google released the first update of Picasa, the digital photo editing and sharing software, since they acquired the company six months ago. Picasa 2 is free and is available for download from Picasa. The software is great for people who have a large number of digital photos that can be difficult to organize; when the application is first started, it automatically locates all pictures and sorts them by date and folder name for easy retrieval.

According to eWeek:

While Picasa 2 adds a range of features for photo editing and organizing, it also introduces Google-like touches to the application. [...]

The update also replaces a Picasa-branded service for buying digital prints with the Picasa Marketplace that connects to popular photo-sharing sites such as Ofoto Inc., Snapfish, Shutterfly and Walmart.com, said Lars Perkins, the general manager of Picasa.

That is all.
(Totally kick-butt!)

Picasa 2 rocks. There are tons more picture-editing tools, and captioning was a major feature that was missing from the original.
