Picasa Link On Google Causes 16000% Traffic Increase

Google's purchase of Picasa, a company that offers digital photography software, has caused web traffic to the site to increase by a stunning 16000%. Shortly after the announcement of the purchase was made, Google began featuring a link that directed visitors to Picasa's download page.

According to Hitwise, a noted online performance measuring company, Picasa increased its rank among ALL sites from 16,300 on July 9th to 313 on July 16th. Also occurring on the 16th, Picasa was the second most visited site in Hitwise's photography category, ahead of notables like Jessops, Kodak, and Canon.

These eye opening numbers go a long way in demonstrating the power of Google.

Yeah, I think if you put your link on google's home page you can only expect the best.

EDIT: Wouldn't it be great if www.googlecommunity.com had it's link on the main page?

Absolutely, but we're just a small forum run by Google fans, nothing official

Its a great program. I am glad i did not pay for it before google got it. I think it was like between 20 dollars and 30 dollars. So when i saw that i downloaded it quick. Like i said its a very good program, and recommend anyone who uses a digital camera. Like most of you said, anything that goes on google's main page is instant suscess. I dont know if this site could handle all the hits that googlecommuity would get from google.com. But if it did, this would be a hit. Keep up the good work here.

It probally could not handle it, since most hosts only allow you so much bandwidth.

Very true. Your right, it depends on what site googlecommunity is hosted by. This website, googlecommunity, would have to upgrade before they put their link on google.com, then look for people that would want to put ads on this website, then just enjoy the joyride.
