Picasa Headaches: Have DOWNLOAD button for single pictures, but not entire albums!!!
I used to download entire albums, but I cannot do it anymore. The Help
description below indicates that you have not removed this functionality, so I am confused. We ought to see a download button, as we did in the past, provided the person who owns the album has not restricted downloads. I download family pictures from my brother's album (http:// picasaweb.google.com/michaelstr), and he swears he has not changed the configuration at all. He is very computer literate, so it is unlikely he would have restricted downloads inadvertently and then not be able to discover his mistake. WHAT'S GOING ON???? I can download individual pictures, but my brother uploads large numbers of pictures and downloading them one at a time is not possible. Help!! John Strong (pluviosilla@gmail.com) Unhelpful "help" description: Don't see the option to Download to Picasa? This link will appear only if the album owner hasn't opted to 'hide' it and only if Picasa is installed on your computer. If Picasa isn't installed you'll see a Download Picasa link, which will prompt your to download the Picasa application. Even if Download to Picasa is not an option, you can still download individual photos using the Download Photo link. |

From reading your first paragraph you appear to be under the assumption that this is a Google forum. It isn't, we are end users just like you. Your brother isn't kidding, his albums are fully downloadable. See the enclosed screen shot from one of his albums.

Trouble's on my side
Huh? No, I didn't assume this is a Google forum. I just asked a question. Isn't that one purpose of a forum?
The problem is not on my brother's side, and that was the entire point of posting the screenshot of his control panel. The problem is on myside. The download button is not appearing and it should, given the fact that on my brother's side things are configured properly. I can download individual photos, but not entire albums. He posts a lot of pictures, so downloading one photo at a time is not practical. Essentially, we have quit using Picassa to transfer family photos. Pity, because we really enjoyed that feature in the past. |
