Google Chat: Use Picasa Hello to IM

I started using Hello (the sharing feature that works with now-Google Picasa). It features instant messaging as well as photo sharing! To me it seems logical that Google could expand this to cover general-purpose IM.

I decided to have some fun and try out drupal (which, by the way, I am very impressed with) by creating a site about this. Check it out at Google Hello.com.

I agree with this:

The big bucks are going to come from users clicking the ads that are going to be served up at some point with their image sharing and instant messaging. Who has a better handle on context-sensitive advertising than Google? Nobody; not by a long shot.

I am -as of today- using Hello. I still don't have any friends listed there so I haven't had a chance to try its features.
Does it allow us to send msgs. while the other user is offline? If i type an URL on the msgs., can the people i send them to just click on them to go to the webpage?

It is amazing how much a person can learn just browsing in G Community. Allowed me to get rid of the omnipresent MSN Mesenger and replace it with Hello... Awefully nice to share pics... seamless operation and ease of use that renders all other IM obsolete...

Once again, thanks to Google Community

Sounds cool, but I'll be sticking to Gaim. Mainly because Picasa is Windows only, and wine doesn't work on Fedora 2. <_<
