Animation stealing.

I want some opinions.
Okay, so 3-4 years ago, there were a few games I really liked. I made lots and lots of animated gifs from the games and gave them to sites which are known to ask permission before putting up other people's animated gifs such as http://whf.monobasin.net ...
Well after submitting the gifs in 2001, I pretty much left the animation scene up till early 2004. I was looking for information on a game I was considering to buy on fightersgeneration.com. I noticed they had a character profiles section, and my curiousity drove me to check it out. After clicking on the link to the profile of one of my favourite characters, I was simply SHOCKED to see that the guy was using MY animated gifs AND without permission or credit. I emailed the owner of the site that I originally gave the animations to and he said that the fightersgeneration.com guy didn't even ask for permission. I wasn't the only one he stole gifs from. There were loads of others. I didn't care much about his site after that, but I was pretty mad. It seemed that within a few months, due to bandwidth shortage, he had to take his character profiles and animations offline. The other people he stole from didn't take it so lightly. They were encouraging people to direct link the images from his site for their avatars and also spam-linked thousands of animations from his site(heh, I wonder how much bandwidth they ate from him ). I was pretty satisfied, the guy got what he had coming. But I noticed that he put the character section online for a few days again, but others also noticed that and started direct linking again and had it put offline.
This guy is a liar, he not only steals animations and claims them as his own, he also steals other people's artwork.
What are your thoughts on this?
Is this fair??
Well I don't care but a few people do. If you don't believe that he steals/stole the animations/artwork, there ar plenty of people who can give evidence.
Discuss.

Alright, I'll admit. I, too encouraged others to direct link and I myself did so for some time. They were MY animations in the first place, and he didn't have permission to use them and claim them as his own.

One more thing I hate about him is how he keeps complaining how people keep direct linking his images.

Frankie "Yagami"...I don't know his real name, but he's up there with a certain "Vincent" as well.
There's a guy named Gunsmith who has a few of my gifs, and they're a bit edited, but he has permission to use/modify them.

That's funny. I have a few choice words, but I'm sure you would not like for me to share them so willingly here in this forum. It only takes a few moments to ask the author for permission. The problem is that many images get passed around so freely on the WWW, making it nearly impossible to find the rightful owners of their hard work.

The guy not only steals animations, but also artwork and claims them as his own. Sometimes he forgets to erase URL marks or signature marks, so that's how people know how he's a thieving...rather not say ...
