Indexing puzzle - why wont it appear??
span class="postbody"I have a website a href="http://geandgekilns.com/"geandgekilns.com/a that has been online since mid March but is yet to appear in the Google index.brbr-My logs show that Googlebot is regularly visiting the site anddownloading plenty of KBs, and has been visiting for a number of weeksnow;br- I have uploaded a Google Sitemap which has been verified and is regularly downloaded by Google Sitemaps;br- Google Sitemap's Crawl Stats says that the site has been successfully crawled and has no HTTP errors;br- the site does not appear to have been banned by Google;brbrThesite has an older domain name (gegekilns.com) from a previous websitewhich is parked on the new domain. This older domainname appears in theGoogle index for the main page only, but the cached page it refers tois from the current gespan style="font-weight: bold;"and/spangekilns.com site.brbrDoes anybody please have any ideas about why the site is not being indexed by Google?brAny other feedback would be greatly appreciated.brthanksbrimg src="richedit/smileys/Thinking/3.gif" border="0" brbrbr /span

I've had the same issue with my website, and the cause in my case seemed was a weird setup of my hosting provider's servers. They return http code 200 no matter what. So what happened was the following: whenever google crawled my pages, it would look for robots.txt file before indexing anything. Usually when this file doesn't exist Googlebot receives the 404 error and goes on indexing your pages. I did not have the robots.txt file, but my server returned 200 OK code anyways, so Googlebot "assumed" that the file exists but is unreachable, and rescheduled the crawl for a later time. It has been going on since February until I found out the cause yesterday. If you have similar setup and no robots.txt file, just add it to your root directory, or change your .htaccess file to return custom error codes.brbrHope it helpsbrbr
