good post, quality links are very helpful. They can put you on top even if you dont have the highest PR or Backlink count.

I am considering writing articles to gain one-way inbound links from other sites. But this requires a lot more work than seeking reciprocal links or posting in forums such as this. If anyone has used this strategy to promote your website, what is your assessment of it? Do you think it's worth the work?

I always look at Google Toolbar to know the PR of the sites that I visit. If they have a high PR, I try to exchange links

I'm new here, but I'd like to add my opinion to this subject.

I totally agree swapping links is the wrong way to go in the future. In fact, I'm not real sure it ever was worth the time and trouble. When you can get them, one way links from great pages are the way to go.

BTW, this is a great forum. Can't believe I only found it tonight searching Google.
